Coaching

“Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.” – Pete Carroll

Coach Training 503 @ School of Ministry

Coaching is all about change, but not all change is the same and coaches
need to be able to support three types of change: proactive change, transitions, and deep transformation. This course provides students the knowledge and skills necessary for coaching people and groups through change. Attention is given to understanding different types of change, how to support people going through transitions, and how to use coaching to initiate positive change. 503 is a required class for AG Coaching Level 1 certification.

Coach Training 507 @ School of Ministry

Almost everything that we do in the life of the body of Christ is done with more than one person involved. This course distinguishes coaching individuals from coaching groups or coaching teams. The skills and models are different for each of these. We will focus on how to be a highly effective coach of teams in a church or denominational setting.

A Coach Approach to Leading and Managing – 510 @ School of Ministry

All of us are either part of a group or team. There is a difference. This course will draw out the distinctions between a group and team as well as define the roles and responsibilities of leading and managing both. Models designed by Ken Blanchard, Patrick Lencioni, Marcus Buckingham, and Kouzes and Pozner will be used to explore and define various characteristics of team members and those who lead them. In addition, we will analyze what makes great teams as well as specific challenges that trip them up, creating confusion and chaos.

Register for Coaching 501 – TBD.

Note: Although an introductory coach training course would be helpful, this can be taken without the 501 pre-requisite.

Mentor Coach Cohorts

In our Network, we want to resource you in your ministry. One way we do this is through coach training. We have had many people take coach training, however, a common problem is that many people get “stuck” at that point and though they want to, they never move forward in using coaching in ministry or feel confident enough to do so. We want to help with that.

We are offering “Mentor Coaching” in a group format for 10 weeks running in the Spring and Fall.

This is how it works: once a week you will meet on the phone for a one hour conference call that we will make happen. On the call will be others who want to move forward with coaching as well as an ICF credentialed mentor coach who will work with the group to enhance their coaching skills.

Normally, such mentor coaching costs around $1,000 but we will be providing it for you for the cost of $150 for the entire 10 weeks.

Please note: these groups are limited to 10 participants, and they will fill up quick. So we encourage you to sign up soon!

Coaching Refresher

Coaching skills are like a muscle. The need to constantly be used, trained and reviewed. We are offering a one day Coaching Review (free) for all who have taken at least one Coaching course. The day will include: reviewing the basic skills and practice coaching with mentor coaches.

Coaching Review dates and times TBD
